We arrived in Monson earlier this evening and are gearing up for our final stretch. We picked up our last box of food at the post office and had a yummy lunch at the Monson General Store. There are about 9 thru-hikers in town tonight, many of them we've hiked with for quite some time. The past several days have been amazing with many great ponds and more mild terrain. We tented along the shores of Bald Mountain Pond last night which provided a great sunset and lots of loon calls. The 100 mile wilderness and the hike up Katahdin are all that remain and we plan on enjoying every last step! We may have to plan a get together with a slide show and dinner to finally reveal some of our photos!
Much love to you all and may you know each one of you have provided motivation to help us get here!!
Love,
Ben and Amanda

HI Guys!! I guess you survived the frosty nights of August in the mountains. Wow you are almost there, the end of a long journey that few can lay claim to. We are so proud and amazed by the both of you. How great to meet up with other familar hikers. Enjoy the sumit of Katadin!!!

Wow, you must be getting so stoked as you close in on the completion of your epic journey. It must feel like fall in the hills. It's been in the fortys the last couple of mornings here. I hope you're staying cozy at night. Sorry to have missed your call last night but we wish you the best through the infamous hundred mile woods. I'm thinking it won't pose much of a problem to a couple of tough, seasoned troopers like you. Enjoy the ride.
I love you.

Hi amanda and ben..celebration comes to mind. It is like the end of a good book, time to slow down and keep taking it all in. Enjoying each step, deepening within yourself, embracing your strength, your recognition of the bigger truths of life. May you carry this trip with you as you move through the journey of your life, present with each step and reaping the blessings of the moment, of the day, of the woods, of nature, of light. It was great to talk with you and hear your sense of it all, enjoying your friends, enjoying the ponds, the quiet moments. I celebrated the mailing of the last box, and have so enjoyed being present with you both in this way, sending lots of goodies and love from home.
You are strong and beautiful people
I love you

Amanda & Ben,
I keep thinking back to our lunch together before you started your journey and can't believe that it is almost over! I can't help but second what everyone keeps telling you guys...you are amazing! There are few words to describe what you've done. Congratulations! I look forward to the pictures and stories. Take care.
I just saw your post a moment ago and my eyes watered to read "Monson, ME"... I said out loud: They did it!... Also, Don't forget to take a photo of your hiking boots!
Love to you on the final steps,
Dianne B.
Three cheers for Ben and Amanda! Summit day is tomorrow if all goes according to plan. Please please please post as soon as possible and let us all know what you thought of the end! I'm truly jealous you guys are still out there. Your friend,
