Dalton, MA and Tom's House

A quick hello from Dalton, MA! We were not planning on staying here, but have had a few troubles with our tent ( no worries though) so decided to stop by Depot Street where Tom opens his home to hikers. We were greeted with huge ice cream sundaes, took showers, were allowed to borrow clean clothes and then got a ride to a great restaurant for dinner.
We are good and we keep walking, one step at a time Maine here we come!

Oh and we are working on ideas of unique ways to celebrate on top of Katahdin so if you've got any ideas let us know!
Boiling and eating lobsters on the summit was our idea?!?

Much love!

Hi Ben & Amanda, Good to hear from you!! Have you adjusted to being back to the daily grind of hiking and enjoying? Miss you again already of course. Another great trail angel deal I see, you two are so lucky, Thanks Tom!! Hamish camped here this weekend, I gave him the blog address and he said he will blog you. Thought, as we all do who love you guys, that it is a cool adventure you are taking on. Love you big time, Mom & Dad P.S. I"ll be thinking about how to celebrate on Katadin, but the lobsters sound great!!!

hey guys, I'm trying to get some little packs made so the lobsters can carry their own butter. I hope the last couple days of crazy thunder storms and hail have skirted around you and you are enjoying hiking in your former home state of vermont. Keep up the good work and keep us posted at home for possible hook up spots along the way. I can't help wonder where the chefs are. We'd love to perform some trail magic on their behalf. We're proud of all you through hikers. You rock!
Love dad

I can't believe how far you've come! It's a tremendous accomplishment. We're gearing up to send you another package...Elias thinks you might like some Hubba Bubba!?! I was driving through Gilead, ME earlier this week and saw a possible through hiker. Mt. Washington was looking mighty BIG. You'll be there soon. How can we catch up with you? I think of you often!
ENJOY! Kathy & kids

It sounds like you guys are gaining on the Chefs. I wish you could catch up with them but they are pressing on in order to finish by 07/31. They plan to be in Gorham NH 07/15 which will put them about 15 miles from the ME border. Strider's dad is planning to join them in Caratunk for a few days of hiking around 07/22. The Chefs have been hiking with Dice who is from ME and knows the trails in NH and ME which has been a help. The next time I talk to Miller I will tell him to post more information about their stops in ME in case they can hook up with any of your family. I'm so proud of all of you. You are incredible hikers. Keep it up. Miller's Mom
